I am even considering picking up the Maxus 308 - 140 Amp 120Volt - for a more portable solution when I go to a customer that only has 120 volt hookup.ĭon't get me wrong, this isn't a replacement for the high dollar Lincoln's and Miller's of the world with Stitch weld timers and spot timers - but bang for the buck cannot be beat. I have projects where I weld 12 inches of bead on 1/8" angle iron for a good hour plus at a time. The Maxus is just as heavy as the Hobart, and I run it VERY hard. In fact, come to think of it, I have not had 1 birdnest in the drive system (knock on wood). The Maxus and hobart are almost identical machines as far as function goes, but I have had much fewer issues with the drive system and the wire welding to the tip - causing bird nests at the drive system. There is that much difference in the weld quality and smoothness of weld. Let me put it this way - the Hobart has not been used since I first used the Maxus. I have a small business, and was starting to worry that I might have issues if my Hobart 180 died in the middle of a weekend production project - so I picked up this Maxus. I have been using a Maxus 413 (220 Volt) welder for the last 2 years. I assume these fit just under the HH125 units,but I would think they are going to have to price these lower to compete in that nich.ĭoes anyone know if the C/H line is made in the USA or made in China? Hard to justify their price if made in China. The Model# is WF2150 on mine(flux core) and the sister mig (gas) is WG2160. I doubt I'd have given the almost $300 retail for it,but that thought may change after I try it out. I will say it looks very good cosmetically and looks very close to my HH125 in fit & finish.Considering what I paid,I'm pleased. I haven't had time to get it to a repair facility & have no intention of trying to repair it and doing something wrong. I did buy one of the new style C/H units NIB on ebay for almost nothing since nobody else bid,but UPS dropped it in transit and a wire came unplugged inside. The Hobart units in each size were only a little more $$$ than the Maxus units and not enough to get me to purchase the Maxus over a Hobart. I can't say how the Maxus welders function,only that they looked as good as if not better than the Hobart Handlers side by side. I looked at the wire feed assembly in the Maxus wire welders and the feeder is a cast metal assembly that resembles a Miller wire feeder. TSC will stock them as well as the Maxus line. It's my understanding these units(which look like a Hobart Handler) will probably replace the older style C/H line of wire welders. Campbell Hausfeld is just starting to distribute a new line of wire welders.They are along the lines of their Maxus line of tools,just badged as C/H.
